I have read the Wheel of Time series (as much as is out) twice now as I love the books. This thread serves two purposes. One, I would like to view other peoples takes on the series thus far. Two, I highly recommend this series to anyone who loves to read, and has the attention span for a longer book. These books are incredibly descriptive (one of the main reasons why it is a love it or hate it series) and can become a bit longwinded. But for anyone who has a mind for detail or just doesn't mind detail, and loves long books and a continueing storyline, these are some very good books and I highly recommend reading them through Book #3 before passing judgement on the series.

The Eye of the World was amazing. The Great Hunt was good. The Dragon Reborn was ok. The others were horrible. Don't get me wrong, Robert Jordan is good. It's just that you shouldn't bother reading past the third book. Eye of the World is easily on my top twenty books of all time. But the others... well, hey, if you like 'em, go ahead and read them, but imho, they aren't good.

The only Wheel of Time thing I got all the way through was the novella in the Legends anthology series, which I picked up as an audio book from the library mainly for the Terry Pratchett and Orson Scott Card stories that were also part of that set.
It wasn't bad, but it didn't make me laugh quite so much as either of the other two (Terry Pratchett writes stories that are primarily meant to be humorous, but I've never known Orson Scott Card to be that funny).
I've made a few false starts on Eye of the World, but never gotten all the way through it.

The books can be hard to get into, and they require alot of attention to detail, but I love the books. It seems to be one of those love it or hate it series.

If i got that collection Khyron, i'd go Terry Pratchett first, then Card, then Jordan. That's my draft list of authors.
